Fairfield Animal Hospital emphasizes preventative medicine including dewormings; vaccinations; heartworm, flea, and tick preventative programs. Annual physical exams are strongly recommended for all pets.

WELLNESS RECOMENDATION SHEET

Fairfield Animal Hospital's Wellness recommendation check lists are designed to help your pet live as long as possible. Wellness recommendations fall into four classes.

Puppy and Kitten

As your pet matures, the doctors will make various testing recommendations to help find diseases in their infancy before serious health problems occur.

Puppies and Kittens under 6 months of age

Through physical exam
Deworming on first visit

Feline Leukemia test - first kitten exam
Complete blood count
Fecal parasite exam
Rx Heartworm preventive
Rx - vitamins

Dogs and Cats 1-6 years of age on annual visit

Through physical exam
Fecal parasite exam
Heartworm blood test at one year, and two years of age, or if not on continued heartworm prevention.
Vaccines
Complete blood count at 1 year of age

Senior Dogs and Cats 7-11 years of age on annual visit

Thorough physical exam
Fecal parasite exam

Complete blood count, chemistries, and urinalysis at 7 years of age
Senior diet
Tonometry
Ophthalmoscopic exam
Rx - geriatric vitamins
Urinalysis

Geriatric Dogs and Cats 12 years and up on six months visit

Thorough physical exam
Complete blood count, chemistries, urinalysis, thyroid level, ophthalmoscopic exam, tonometry, and ECG at 12 years of age.
